I just brought a feather duster and I was wondereing do I have to bury it in the sand or it will burry itself? All I did was release it into the tank last night and its still just laying on top of the sand and when I brought it, it was burried all you could see was the feather. Now you see the whole worm.

What else do you have in the tank? I bought one a couple of weeks ago and was told to bury it lightly, which I did, but I left quite a bit of its tube exposed. Within a day about a half an inch or tube had come off. After talking to folks at my LFS, we determined that my crabs or eel were attacking it. So I buried its tube completely, though lightly, and it's been happy ever since.

So, with what little experience I have I'd say you should bury its tube only if you have inverts or aggressive fish in your tank that may pester it.

yeah i just got one also. it was already attached to live rock which the LFS gave me for free. score!

but anyway. my worm tube is mostly covered by sand. there is about an inch of exposed tube which leads to the feathers. He seems to be doing good. So I'd say slightly covered with sand but not completely i guess.
