I just purchased a few Hawaiin feather dusters and they seem to be doing great. However, one of them is fairly close to my filter intake and part of its "fan" is being sucked in as well. The duster has to stretch out to get there, and when disturbed it is still able to pull itself out of the intake. So I figure it enjoys the flow of water but will this eventually damage it?

Ah, your post just made me me realize something. It is probably stretching leftward towards the intake to get away from the harsh current of the outflow. Thanks!

ah, a couple of more questions. Before I bought them, the information i gathered basically said they feed on microscopic organisms(i forget the technical name) and that they should be supplemented. I just recently read an article discussing the use of baby brine shrimp, is that good advice or more trouble than worth?
