Hello everyone,

Has anyone kept a featherfin catfish successfully?

What tank size does this fish need?

And what tank mates will do well with them?

If you were referring to the Synodontis eupterus, this fish is fine solitary or in group but at 8 inches in length (and note that these are very fast growers and take only 18 months to reach full size), you'd end up sticking to only one for a 55g minimum. The tankmates must be feisty enough to defend themselves if the syno decides to pick a fight with them. African cichlids are your best bets although some CA/SA cichlids will work equally well. Feeding is not a problem. This fish prefers meaty foods but will take just about anything offered.

The syno can easily outcompete the cories and kubs for food but the yoyos are quite capable as they are just as feisty as the syno. Chances are also good the cories will earn a good beating and a poke in the eyes from the synos since cories do not know how to defend themselves.

Oh no.. poor cories. Lol.

Thats too bad. I guess I will have to pass on the featherfin that my friend is trying to rehome.

thanks for the info though :D
