I could use feedback on new calculator we are publishing. It is still beta,
but the calculations are accurate.

Aqua-Calc calculates aquarium volume, weight, and pressure (PSI). It also Converts to and from Celcius and Farenheit. It is designed for both fresh and saltwater. I think it would be useful for anyone setting up a tank, and for folks building their own tanks, to calculate weight and pressure for big tanks, etc. I wanted something like this for a long time, so had to create it ourselves!

Please post what you think -- good or bad, ease of use, and any other calculations that we should add.

I like it, you could add in a couple things if you wish, like a glass/acrylic option, a glass/acrylic thickness choice (or possibly even add in another calculator that can recommended a certain thickness of glass/acrylic depending on tank size, useful for tank builders) You can also add in an option for substrate, even something simple like this- http://www.reefcentral.com/calc/SandBed.php

What I really want to see however, is a website that can give recommended floor joist thickness and how close the tank should be to a load bearing wall. Unfortunatly, for those kind of numbers, youd probably need to find a structural engineer, as Ive never seen a simple graph/chart online anywhere.

Slipnottin, thanks for the feedback! The next release will take into account gravel and water volume as opposed to only total volume.

We thought about recommended floor joist thickness, but I think it is risky. For example, in my house, which was built in th 1800's I had to rip a room to build a bathroom. I was horrified to see how plumbers, over the years, notched the joists and weakened them. Now it is known that to preserve structual integrity, it is better to drill a hole in the center of a joist as opposed to notching the edge. So the floor joist calculations would only be useful for new construction. But I would hate for someone to use our
reccomendations and have a tank crash though the floor.

I think that folks that build their own tanks will want to do their own calculations for glass/acrylic thickness. Do you disagree? We could provide the tables for that.

We will also add weight conversion for medication dosing.

Any other ideas or critisism, please me know! I want to offer a complete single source for all of the conversions needed in the salt and freshwater aquarium hobby.

I get this at the page

"This is the placeholder for domain aqua-calc.com. If you see this page after uploading site content you probably have not replaced the index.html file.

By the way I am using opera 7.2
