Feeder fish, safe for non-fish?!?

While I have to admit I was a bit shocked when I first read it, it makes sense...humans eat fish because it's low in fat, what fats it does have are really good for our hearts, skin, hair, and nails, and the bones are completely digestible and very flexible so we eat them, too...

So after giving it a thought, I wouldn't disagree to feeding my dead fish (as long as they died of something that I am confident wouldn't transmit) to my cat. But as far as feeder fish, they tend to carry diseases that aren't found in the wild, so I'd grow my own.
