Well i was doing some more wondering. Im probably gonna get a 45 gallon tank and get a lion fish. Since i live by the sea couldnt i goto a nearby baitshop and just buy baitfish and feed them to the lion??? or would it be better to try and house them in a 20 gallon for a while to make sure they dont have anything wrong with em first..

It would be best to keep them and verify they are healthy, yes. Determine what kind of bait fish they are--silversides would be fine. Or, you could kill and freeze them, or go with one of the meaty prepared foods--lions can be trained to take prepared foods quite easily.

You can also raise mollies in s.w. They will produce a pretty much never ending supply of feeders for your lion and you'll know where they come from and what they've been eating. As o.g. says though it's pretty east to get them to eat frozen foods.
