I saw some cool looking feeders and had to have them. I took home two goldfish for a spare tank. Is it recommended to do this? So cheap but much better looking than the fancy fish. Almost like koi. Thanks, Lets get the ball rolling!

You can, but it's a a buyer beware situation. Feeder goldfish are not quality fish, with physical deformities (both in and out) and are not the healthiest available...It is not uncommon for them to carry parasites and other illness...Mostly due to the overcrowding situation they grow up in. If you were to isolate them in their own tank and be very careful to disinfect all equipment used in other tanks then go for it if you really want to...Personally, I'd rather pay a couple of bucks for something healthier, but that's just my P.O.
I have to say that one of my daughters favorite goldfish is Fritz#3. I was have a bit of difficulty (i.e, Fritz#1, and Fritz#2) when I picked him out of tank of feeder fish. Most of the feeders were common goldfish with a few comets. He was the only white and gold comet with nice fins and was pretty spunky. He was smaller than a quarter at the time. Needless to say, he is growing into a beautiful comet and was definitely worth 35 cents. I would say that I probably got lucky. It was 3 months before I dared to put another fish with him.

They are in my hospital tank and doing well. The store did not have any other fish like these or I would have paid more money for quality fish. Well, see what happens.
