I recently aquired an Angel Ram. He is in a tank with White Cloud Mountain Minnows, Cherry Barbs and Corydoras. When I feed, while the other fish are in a frenzy near the top of the water he just swims around and looks clueless and isnt going after the food. If I am near the tank he keeps swimming along the glass looking at me like "feed me". I also feed sinking wafers for the Corydoras and also Harkari feeze dried brine shrimp in addition to Omega One flake food regularly and frozen blood worms about once a week. I never see him eat and I am worried. Am I missing something? Thanks for any advice.

Rams are not top feeders. try to find some sinking cichlid pellets or brine shrimp pellets, feed the other fish first so they are busy and then drop in the pellets for the ram. Target feed him with tongs if you have to. They also love frozen blood worms. The corys will be quicker to get them so you really need to make sure they are literally in front of the rams nose so he has a chance........keep trying! :)

:iagree: they tend to forage on the bottom. find some sinking foods for it.

Thanks. He doesnt look thin so I am assuming he is eating something. I will try the shrimp pellets. I only feed frozen blood worms once a week as I had been told they should be considered a treat and not a staple. Can I feed them more often than once a week?

I feed FBW twice a week but I am a notorious for overfeeding! :lipssealedsmilie:

I got a balloon ram about 2 weeks ago and I didn't see him eat anything for a few days. He was taking in food, but spitting EVERYTHING out. It had be very worried. After a few days when he got settled though he eats everything he can get to.

Mine will look patiently at me to, and then I drop some soft pellets and send them his way. he eats them then. But the darn other fish jump in his way and he will not eat unless there out of the way so I feed all the fish all at once. meaning the flake at the top, snail jello at the bottom and soft pellets soon after the other fish get occupied. That snail jello has saved me so much in feeding. all the fish except the ram, go for the snail jello and even the babies eat what they pull off and it floats around.
