it depends on your corals. some dont ever need to be fed, some dont need to be but will benefite, others needs to be fed all the time

in addition to fisheiness's comment certain corals need different foods from others and some can only do well with live or frozen supplements.
mushrooms dont need to be fed, but can be fed something very fine, raw, seafood, and meaty.
most zoos do not feed very well because they are so small, but as with mushrooms, it isnt really needed
sun corals are nonphotosynthetic and need to be fed something small, finely chopped, and meaty every few days
clams (which are not corals, and i assume you are tlakign about tridanca sp.) are mainly photosynthetic. if they are under 3"s, they should be fed phytolankton every few days. you can put them in a bowl full of it to prevent tons of extra phyto polluting your tank. make sure to feed them live, and dont inject it right into their intake siphone, otherwise, it could kill them so they will jsut reject it

clams arent corals btw and i wouldnt recommend them for a beginner either for more details on them see this thread post of mine

Feed them dt.. and depending on how many corals.. one capfull can feed a t70 gal tank for a week

very true(depending on filtration and skimming) doseing is very important know your bioload
and Dt's live phytoplankton is a very good product im waiting for mine to come in next week.
