I have two cories in a tank. One is 2 inch spotted cory and the other is a bit bigger bronze cory which in my fish book is called "brochis". (What's the difference between Corydora and Brochis? )

The bigger cory eats very well, everything that comes along, frozen worms, leftover dry food, pellets, flakes, algae, you name it. But the smaller one is very shy and doesn't come out much during the day, gets easilly scared and stays a lot behind the rocks. He often follows the older cory but never seems to eat food with him. I have no idea what he is eating but he has been seemingly healthy for way over a month now since we got him. I have a feeling he is eating just algae. But is that good for him to live just on algae? Or am I worried for nothing?

i dont think corys eat algae. I could be wrong. I have two bronze corys myself and they feed off flake food that falls to the bottom.Yours is probably eating fine when u arent looking. Just make sure his stomach hasnt become concave.I also feed my corys nutrafin max sinking pellets they love them.

I notice that my cories seldom consume all of the food right away. So perhaps your guy is coming out after you leave to grab a snack. Also cories are constantly on the look out for food and he is probably getting some on his search, old flakes or some such thing.

If you are worried then try feeding after lights out at night. The cory doesn't need light to find his food and he will eventually get used to you feeding him.

Corys are a very social fish and should be kept in groups. At least 3 and some say minimum of 4. If you can add a few more you will find the group much less reclusive than a single one.

I feed my cory's algea wafers and they love them. Of course, sometimes they have to compete with Ted, my angel fish.

He likes them too.

I feed my cories sinking pellets (for all tropical fish), shrimp pellets, and sinking algae wafers. incidentally, I have a kribensis named ted who loves the shrimp pellets so I usually have to throw in 2 or 3.hehe, great minds name fish alike;)

I use algae wafers and sinking shrimp pellets, and give them some frozen blood worms every other morning. The bigger cory eats all of it, and is fun to watch how he sucks up the food. But the smaller one is not interested in this food even if I put it right in front of his nose. Yet I see him on top of some live plants working on algae. And he seems okay and healthy.

Hi Sunny, I am sure the little cory is getting what he wants after he is small and corys dont each much anyway.

I have several cory's and I have found that if they are in motion then they are eating. They will go along the rocks, gravel, plants or anything else and get tidbits where ever they find them. Since the little guy is still alive after a month he probably doing fine. I do recommend putting a couple more of his kind in there with him as they really do like to hang in groups.
