Feeding fish ?????

I can't remember where I read it, but I recall reading that fish can go as long as 1 month without eating. After that they'd definitely die of starvation. Now, I wouldn't want to test that theory, but if it's correct, then 1 week should be fine. Just do as 'J double R' suggested. A good feeding before you leave.

:iagree:

A week without food is no problem at all. Just think... do fish eat everyday in the wild? Doubtful. Mine have gone 10 days without food, without any adverse effects whatsoever.

If you're reeeeally worried about it, why don't you get one of those weekend feeders, that slowly disolve? But honestly, I wouldn't worry. Feed'em before you leave and then when you get back.

if you're going to go the route of no feeding and feed them before you leave, be sure not to overfeed them, trying to cmpensate for the no feeding schedule. This will only foul the water. The fish won't be saving it for later.

Well thats good to hear, I was going to ask this question in a week or two because i'm going on a week long vacation in July. I will hopefully be having someone come over midweek to feed them though.

I wouldn't bother man. Non fish people feeding fish is usually a very very bad idea. Their are lots of horror stories of people having someone else feed their fish, they over feed, and they come home to everything in the tank dead.

Has anyone tried those new gel-based vacation feeders that claim not to foul the tank?
