If there isn't enough in your tank for hermits to eat, what can you feed them?

I thought about putting a sheet of algae (that I would use to feed a tang) in there, or maybe blanched romaine lettuce.

Any other suggestions? Would hermits eat that stuff?

Those two suggestions sound good. I think hermits will eat just about any food. I know if I lower lettuce or and food for my tang too close to the substrate it is covered with hermits in minutes. You might try algae tablets, shrimp pellets, brine shrimp. The ones I've had have never been picky. I had a large hermit crab that I used to feed krill on occasion.

If you want veggies, go for nori rather than romaine. There's not a lot of useful nutrition in lettuce. Mine eat anything that drops to the bottom.
