Feeding My Oscars?

IMO once a week is plenty. I prefer using pellets for everyday. That way they don't get spoiled and hold you up for fancier grub. Also, by varying the pellets & tossing in treats like the frozen krill -- I also use earthworms, mealworms, crickets, silversides, etc -- you can assure a rounded diet and keep them entertained.

Krill? That's salt water stuffs. Even if it is in fresh water, they dont occur in the Amazon close to the Oscars' homes...

Then again, where would they encounter pellets?

Hehe, I'd just stick with the pellets and live fish

I feed my oscars nothing but freeze dried krill 3 times a day.

I Bought Some Frozen Krill Today For My 2 Oscars. Good For A Treat Once A Week. Or Is It An Everyone Other Day Thing? What Do You Suggest?

I feed my Oscar, Green Terrors and Pacu's freeze dried Krill one day, pellets another day, flakes another day and beef hearts another day. I skip a day of feeding once a week. So far, the Pacu's are the most hearty eaters, but everyone feeds on whatever is being served that particular day. It gives them a variety in their diet.

Live fish that naturally occur in amazon I hope, no goldfish or rosies ;)

Krill is a great food for all tropical fish btw.

haha if u go into a fish store around here and ask for rosies, they don't even know what your talking about!

when i buy feeders they give me 10 rosies for a dollar. rosies are no good for an oscar? it seems to be what is recommended? even if it is not, they seem to really love them.

I've been out of the fish hobby for over 12 years (military moves made it too much a hassle) and I did Oscars. I had some big ones. All I ever fed them was goldfish, worms (right from outside after a rain) and the occasional cocktail shrimp (they loved that!).

Hey! My first post! :D
