In feeding the PomPom Xenia and the Frogspawn, would you suggest target feeding? And how often?

What do you say about simply dosing the aquarium with scoops of Phytoplankton daily, and live rotifer's once on weekends?

I've never target fed the xenia--not sure how it would react. I would target the frogspawn--dosing the tank is good though I'd only go every other day initially. I'd also dose with the live rotifers, probably start with every 3rd day, and then increase or decrease, depending on how the tank responded.

Perkier, happier corals. Quick responses to being disturbed, and a quick perk up after lights come on in the morning. Corals that take a long time to open up and extend their polyps typically aren't as happy. As always, if the water quality starts dipping, it can mean that you have too many nutrients, so feeding may need to be toned back--either less at each feeding, or fewer feedings.

I have never seen Xenia eat anything, and mine tend to retract in response to food or phyto going into the tank. Borneman says they probably take in a lot of dissolved material, rather than feeding on plankton or other solid food.

mak, what kind of Xenia do you have? I have a couple a tall one on a stalk and sort of a pinkish encrusting one. the tall one I'm not sure if it's really eating when I feed but it seems to sort of grab at the water more. I can't say for sure if it's eating or not though it sure is growing great though. The pink encrusting one seems to go absolutly nuts when I feed my tank but again I don't know if it's really eating or not but, it really does react a LOT more than the one on a stalk.
