feeding prob with black ghost

hi,
i have four blackghost knife fish in my tank along with ten ghost shrimps and i am feeding them sinking food(food brand is hikari tropical discus) and my bgk are wasteing toomuch of it. they eat only part of the pallet and leave remaining in the powered form. i think this waste part is not good as it will creat water prob and even my shrimps are not picking this wasted food they always go for a big piece. so please recommened me some fish which feed on wasted food. my tank is 5o gallon. thanx

Sounds like you just need a bottom feeder or 2. plecos or algae eaters will do the trick. Your LFS should have them in stock and they generally aren't too expensive. But be careful and do a little research as some plecos can grow to almost 20", so its possible it can outgrow your tank.
But in my opinion, no fish tank should be without a bottom feeder of some sort.

Why not just do weekly gravel vacs during your water changes? This will remove any uneaten food. I dont see the point of getting a fish to solve a problem that can be solved through other means. Certain smaller plecos wont eaven eat the uneaten food, and will need specialised foods to remain healthy. They will defecate, meaning you will STILL have to vac your gravel. Kind of pointless. On that note, You shouldnt be keeping even ONE BGK in that tank as it will grow out of it, or become stunded and die early, or both. Keeping four is just not right. they navigate using a small electrical current, more than one in a tank will confuse thier sensory organs. (you could have 4 in a tank possibly if it were a 5,000 gal tank or bigger)

Well. one ghost in the tank is alot...but 4 is way too many. they get over 20 inches and require lots of room. I would say 180Gal minimum per ghost. 2 being the max in the tank. 4 in the tank will cause premature death and injury like Sumthin fishy has stated.

agreed, BGK's are blind and therefore use very very small electric currents to "see" their surroundings. i wouldn't have more than 1 in a singal tank for that reason, as they can become stressed and confused with that many other the same species interfering with each other. the other reason is they can get up to 20inches long.

besides all the reasons stated, they really do prefer live or frozen foods, try frozen bloodworms, they go crazy for those. they dont really care for freeze dried or flakes.
