hi
umm i was just wondering if a 5 cm volitan lionfish would eat frozen food or must it always be live food?. what sort of food must they have? and how often must they be fed.

Thanks for any tips

It could eat frozen. That seems to be the perfect size for frozen mysis shrimp. Fish go crazy of those. It's tricky to wean them if they don't eat frozen already. I wouldn't get to many because the lion will grow to big for them pretty fast. Now that I think about it is there any live food that could fit a 2 inch long lion?

Baby guppies; but just to get them eating! It may even be able to handle small ghost shrimp. These guys grow incredibly fast when they start eating well. A feeding stick, made from a slightly sharpened piece of rigid airline tubing can be be used to wean them. Soak pieces of raw shrimp in a little garlic and make it look alive. As it grows, I strongly suggest Selcon, or another vitamin supplement. I always have a Volitan somewhere, the big one I have now eats anything ; was about 2.5" last March and about 8" now-- I think he'd eat a brussel sprout, if he saw it coming on a feeding stick.

I got one about 4-5 inches and he wouldnt eat frozen so I fed him a couple a cheap damsels which he inhaled. Im hoping now he'll eat misis or mabye some krill now. well see in a couple days.
