Hi,
I have been seriously considering making my 50g. tank into a Cichlid tank. Still just deciding what Fish I want. I am wondering what you all do when you go away for a few days as far as feeding your Cichlids? This summer we plan on doing a lot of camping, but we will only be gone at the most for 2-3 days. With my other fish I usually put one of those feeding pyramids in the tank or may even get an automatic feeder for my 55g. tank which has tropical fish. Could I use one of these on the Cichlid tank also?
Thanks

yeh, i used an automatic feeder for about a month while i was gone, it worked good. If you are going to be gone for only a couple days, i dont think you really need to worry, as long as its not like a couple days a week. I think the fish could last 3-4 days without food, they will be very irritated when u get back, but a couple good feasts and the will be back to normal.

I agree, stay away from those feeding blocks; they're a colossal accident waiting to happen. Fish can do fine for several days (up to 2 weeks) a time without food. Many fishkeepers don't feed every day, anyway. Just feed normally before you leave and upon your return. Your fish will be fine.
