Feeling old... ?

Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things..

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.

Unless they have a mother who was a gigantic Dallas fan and now has the DVD's [season 4 was only released in January so I couldn't get it for Christmas :( ] and plays them all the time. He was born in 1986 (point #1) - what a great way to clear the room! But, he has said when the season comes out with it all being a dream (Bobby in the shower), he wants to see the first few minutes of that one.

I was one of these days talking to a younger coweorker and told him "Watcha talkin' about, Willis?" and he didn't get the joke. He didn't even remeber ALF.

That reminds me, just this past weekend, my sister was saying that at work when she says "Heavens to Murgatroyd" the rest of the staff have no idea who Snagglepus is.

Yesterday I cut off part of my finger, maybe that was alzheimer's setting in since I'm SO OLD!

Well, ya'll, I remember every one of those things. Evaree freakin' one.
But I don't feel old. I just think, gosh, what great experiences I've had!!
Think of grand- or great grandparents who had no indoor plumbing, no cars, no phones, gas instead of electricity, no switches except the ones 'cross the back of their legs, no fridge (icebox), no Motrin or aspirin (chew on a willow twig).

Grew up with a portable b&w tv as dad saw no reason to buy a new color one if the old was fine (man, did I get good with antennae!). Still had it when I left for college in 1976!! It's all relative, technology is constantly changing and improving (???)

So Joe, thanks for the walk down memory lane!!!

One more old vs. new memory. My parents still have their turntable and records. At Christmas, we 'oldsters' just about died laughing watching my niece trying to put on and play an LP - trying to get it over the little retractible thingy on the post, lining up the needle on the album, having it at the wrong speed... It took her so long and then before you know it, side 1 was finished. She said, "Good thing it was a LONG playing record."

No, no chili, but I did have add a new ingredient to my recipe.

Mr's Valentes homemade pickles, now with real finger!

Yeah, I remember the ole black and white....we got a total of about 3 or 4 channels....lol. Loved those rabbit ears ! You knew you were moving up on the "status" scale in our family....when you knew where to set the antenna for all of those channels. (I grew up in a family of 8..status was very important...lol) My brother Jay could get it first shot....but then, he WAS the oldest !

Anyone remember that you don't fool with mother nature ? And never mind the space shuttle !!......how bout Armstrong standing on that ladder about to take "THE STEP" !!! Everyone in the world who had access to a t.v. was sitting in front of it THAT night !! (almost as many as when Lucy had her baby...but I wasn't born yet for that one...lol...REALLY !)....but, I remember gazing up at the moon and trying to find out where they were !!! Love that movie "Apollo 13".

Ah....."Memories....light the corners of my mind........misty water colored....MEEEEEMMMMOOOORIIIESSSS".....yadda yadda yadda...... :D
