:1zhelp:I have a female Betta in my familys community tank and she killed our new male Guppy. She does not bother the other male Guppy. Then today she killed a Neon and was swimming around with it in her mouth like a dog with a bone. The tank is 20 gallons with (now) 3 female 1 male guppys, 2 wagtail platies, 4 neons. I have her confined in a Betta cage that hooks on the tank inside but keeps her out of tank. Does anyone have any ideas why?

Females can be just as aggressive as males. They also tend to get more territorial as they get older. With the lack of huge fins dragging them down they can easily hunt down and kill. She probably killled the guppy simply because he was new and invaded her territory. I would find her a new tank because she most likely will hunt down her other tank mates. If she can catch them she can kill them.

Agreed. Females can be as agressive as males. I'd find a new home since it's not likely she'll become more docile.
