No, they were talking about african dwarf frogs. The LFS sales associate told me that the betta would kill the frog because the betta will want to kill anything that's not a fish. More anti-betta propaganda from the same store I guess...
I have a female betta and two ADF's in a tank together and the ADF's and betta get along great. I guess if you get a super aggresive betta they wouldn't work. Try adding them at the same time or add the betta last. I have found that if the betta is the last addition they seem to be less agressive.
