I was wondering whether I would be able to put tiger barbs with female bettas together. I do know that you wouldn't be able to add a male betta with tiger barbs as they have long fins. But I'm not sure if the tiger barbs are not good tankmates for all Betta splendens (males and females).

I was planning on a 20H with 4 Barbs and a single female betta, with some kuhli loaches for the bottom (maybe 3, if possible).

The barbs will probably nip the betta to death.

Not necessarily.

I'd add a couple more tigers to try and keep the nipping more amongst themselves. I think it has a decent chance of working out. Also be sure the betta has some hiding places if need be.

I'm not sure if I would be able to provide with the space to add more barbs to this tank, although, this tank is not set-up yet (just a plan in my head)... The only thing that's certain is that the tank will be a 20H with the female betta and some tankmates with some live plants.

As of now, one of the larger female barb is attacking the 2 other females and the male.

I guess I'll have to take them to the fish store and get soem harlequin rasboras instead.

Thank you for the help.
