Female Betta

I was thinking of getting a female betta for my male betta fish. He has built a nice bubble nest and I was thinking of trying to breed them. I know that you only put them together for a short amount of time (long enough for them to call the fishy stork) then pull her out so he doesn’t eat her. I was wondering if a female betta would do good in a 10 gal with some neons? If not, would she do better with some guppies and platys? Would she try to eat the babies the platy just had? Should I put her in the 30 gal with the more aggressive fish and sell tickets? Or, should I get her a little tank of her own?

Females can be kept in community setups--they vary in temperment, but should be okay in either of the 10 gallon setups--but she may take babies. You'll want to setup a tank close to the males and get her in breeding condition--otherwise, the male might kill her before she can get ready.

Wish I could get away with that with my wife.

Just kidding :joke:

Cool. If they breed, and anyone lives in the Delaware area, you can have a free betta in a few months.
