Female GBR showing parental care towards tetras???

I have a few tetras in my ten gallon with a 4.5" pleco, some platy's and a GBR (german blue ram) i was watching my tank and noticed the GBR was herding the tetras into the corner of the tank and then chased other fish away from the tetras. Everywhere the neons go she goes as well. She's not harming the tetras and seems to keep the platy's away but i'm just wondering if this is normal or if she has something wrong with her.

That is interesting... To be quite honest I could not tell you. That must be a bummer for those neons though as they need some room to swim.

I believe this behavior may be due to overcrowding. That is a lot of fish in there, plus they all like to enjoy the benefits of open swimming space. I would maybe say that the gbr is being territorial against all but a few. A 20 gallon would be great

That's actually really interesting. If she is actually herding the neons together, it does sound like parental care.
