I'm hoping someone could answer my question. I have a male fiddler and HAD a female . My female molted last nite and the male ate her. Is this normal? I'm wondering if i should get another female. Thanks for your help.
Most any crustacean will require a place they can hide during molting. Pretty much anything else in the tank may go after a crustacean when they are vulnerable.
The leftover shell from a crab molt can look very much like a real crab, and crabs usually eat their shedded shells after they shed. Could the male crab have eaten the old shell of the female, and the female is hiding somewhere?
