i have been reading that they are suppose to be in brackish water... but i asked the lfs about the figure 8 puffers and they said that its been accomolated(something that sounds like that) to freshwater... they are 3.98 for each and a lil bigger than 1 in

puffers are brakish, if you keep them in fresh they will eventually die.

lfs have there F8's in freshwater as little ones, but u need to convert them over to brackish water as they get older. You r going to want to gradually convert them to brackish, if u dont u will shock ur fish.

Here is a good link that sploke sent me. In Paragraph 5 it talkas about lfs having the F8's in fw and tells u how to convert them to brackish.

Ive read that having them in brackish water will help them live longer, possibly to 15+ years, plus it will make them stronger and help fend off diseases.

I have 3 F8's myself and im just converting them over to brackish.

Hope this helps

I have 2 F8's in a 21 gal, and 1 in a 12 gal. I found out after I got them that its a good idea to either have just 1 F8 or have atleast 15gal per F8. Thats why I have 1 in her own tank cause she got grouchy with 1 of the bigger F8's and she ended up gettin her face bit pretty good by the big one. I think the lil one has a nepoleon complex. Cause she always got real confrontational with the bigger 1's that r twice her size.
I havent been able to take any pics of them cause i just recently moved and i cant find my digi cam
When I find it ill be sure to take a pic of them and post it.

I hope you enjoy ur Puffer(s) as much as I do.
