Filstar Xp's Defect and problem

Hey Sub, welcome to AC! The only drawback to permanently sealing the quick release to the head of the unit is that when you want to clean the thing, you'll have to drag the hoses along.
You might try getting a new set of O-rings since this has happend more than once. As I stated previously, when I had it happen to me, it was my own fault. I had the filter too far forward in the stand which put pressure on it from the hoses going out of the back of the stand. After that, I started using vaseline on the o-rings for safe measure. The odd thing is, when I bought a new XP3 (because they were on sale and I could, plus I wanted a spare just in case), none of the o-rings were lubricated. I have yet to put anything on them and yet to have any leaks!?! Thicker o-rings on the new units...?

Hello Bev,

Thanks for responding

I sent an e-mail to Planetrena.com regarding this. He said it may be dodgy O rings or even a knackered valve.... all I have to do now is find the bloody reciept and get it looked at... I don't know if i can be bothered, it's major hassle ripping a filter out and sending it off........
Next time I clean it i will try the vaseline trick and the button thing. I have 6 months left on the warranty so i won't panic 'til after Xmas.

Regards

Sub

My XP2 is leaking from the cord outlet

I just got a used Rena XP2 and it is leaking from where the electrical cord come out, I have read some about this, but can not determine a suitable fix for this problem. Can anyone help please?
Thanks
Valerie

The leaking from the cord actualy happened to me today, but it was my own dang fault and didn't realize it. I was trying to get some bubbles out of my background, so I was messing around with the tubes. After I got the bubble out, I put the quick-disconect thing back into the filter and turned it on without lowering the latch . Since the latch was up the outlet valve was locked closed and I guess the pressure forced some water to squeeze out through the cord outlet. Luckily I realized my mistake after a couple seconds. After fixing the problem, it hasn't leaked again.

To be exact, the quick disconnect is not fully seated and/or sealed. This may be due to pressure being applied from the hoses (being too short for example). It could be dirt or debris on the o-ring(s) of the inlet/outlet in the quick disconnect. These are more likely than the head unit being cracked. You could also try wiping the o-rings and applying lube to them.
Anyway, water leaking from the quick disconnect enters the head unit where the motor is located, no problem since the motor is sealed. The lowest outlet from there is the power cord outlet so that's where it leaks from.
