I'm undecided on what filter to use when I set up my 10g betta tank. I have a spare Aquaclear Mini and a Fluval 1 plus.

I plan on keeping a few pigmy corys with the betta so what would be the best filter to use? The tank will be moderately planted.

the aquaclear mini wouldn't be a bad choice, not sure what the fluval is so can't comment there. I'd pick whichever filter has less current because betta's don't tend to like a lot of water current. you shouldn't have too much waste from those fish anyway since bettas are basically "target fed" and cories will clean up anything you send their way. You might just want to put an air powered sponge or corner filter instead of a HOB filter anyway. Kyle

With an understocked tank liek that and lots of plants I would go with the AquaClear Mini. Great for a 10 gallon tank, not over kill for the betta either. Stick it to one side so the betta can choose to either swim in the current or else stay away from it.

I have a 10 gal betta tank with four cories in it. I love it, what a great tank! Anyway, I have an AquaClear Mini on mine, with the switch turned to the low setting for flow. It causes no problems at all for the betta, so that would be my choice. Have fun with your tank!
