Im looking of a good filter foe a discus tank Im going to be setting up. 75 gallon planted with 3 discus and 2 angels. I've had good luck with my XP3 on my 55 gal CA/SA cichlid tank but I didnt know if there is a better filtration system for discus. Thanks for the help!

that will be fine but I maintain large and frequent water changes on my discus, even past the juvie stage..

Depends if there will be plants in the tank or not. If there will be plants, then the best filter is a cannister. IMO, you can't beat Eheim in the long run. They last for 20+ years, litterally. For a 75g, you could get a 2028. I have a 2028 on my 75g, and it is spectacular. If there will be no plants, then the best, and only IMO, option will be a sump. You can make a sump so easily. It is cheap, costing only about 30 dollars, plus the ammount for the pump. A pump for your size tank should cost around 60-80 dollars.

Hope this helps. :)

I have A 90 which is the same footprint as your 75 this is what I have:

2 cascade 1000's with 2 hydor 300 w inline heaters discharging through Bio wheel pro's

with pressurized co2.

every thing works great temp is very stable 85.5 plant growth is excellent water quality is also excellent. I do PWC @ 20% every other day with RO.

I have had over the last year 3 different angel fish pairs form and spawn and now a discus pair spawn I am curently getting a 37 ready for that pair.
