filter issues

What parts for a C3 are you talking about? Nothing will need replacing like the Aqueon does. It's rinse and reuse, for the most part, much like AC filters.

Any replacement things, like intake tubes or any of the plastic pieces that hold the media in place.

Not a big deal though, the ac50 is incredibly quiet.

Yeah, they don't carry those *in* stores because the demand is so low. They don't break, they're rarely replaced, and parts are readily available online where they don't cut into a brick and mortar store's ability to generate revenue with that same space.

They don't have the media or anything like that, where as they have the media for the ac filters.

My dad loves how quiet the ac50 is compared to the aqueon quietflow 50.

I was just at a PetSmart not 20 minutes ago, and they have media for all sizes of AC and C filters. Guess that's a locale difference.

They have stuff for ac filters but not c filters at my local petsmart. I am sure if I drove to a different one, they would have yet another selection of filters and media. The sales person at petsmart said that all petsmart stores carry slightly different product lines and stuff. I am very happy with what I got, and it was only a few bucks more than what it is on Amazon. The c3 is marked for $52 on petsmart's website so I probably would have been cheap and bought the ac50 anyway.

I think I have seen the c3 at a ma and pa fish store around here, but it was probably even higher priced for the filter and media than petsmart or petco.

But, if it's a good ma and pa fish store, and you can afford it, you really should support it. When I worked at PetSmart, there was one local pet store that was horrid. No one would shop there because of the bad conditions. Why it's still in business I don't know. (many people called whomever licenses pet stores, and this store was always just this side of legal, but despicable, so never got it's license revoked, but always got lots of warnings and fines...). There were two other fish only stores in town, and if we didn't have fish people wanted (usually salt water b/c PetSmart doesn't carry saltwater), I would send people there (one more so than another). I even went to those stores to get stuff I couldn't get where I worked. I wanted them to stay in business. Now, I live in a small town with a ma and pa store and have to drive at least an hour for a big box store. I do most of my shopping at the ma and pa store, and only get what he can't get me at the big box stores, and I only go there when I happen to be in the big city--I don't make special trips. I want him to stay in business, and I know without my support he won't. I have to buy hardgoods from him, not just livestock.
