Filter pull too strong?

AC mini filters are on sale at the lfs this month. I need two filters for my 5 gal tanks. I like the AC mini on my 10 gal, but I am afraid that the pull and outflow might be too strong for the fry that I keep in the one 5 gal. I could put netting over the intake to keep them from swimming out I know, but if the pull is too strong won't they just be pulled up against the netting? Also would the outflow create too much disturbance in the water, push them down from the surface too much? Is there a smaller HOB filter for 5 gal tanks? Something thats nice and quiet? (all three tanks are in my bedroom)

You should be perfectly fine with the AC mini...most powerfilters have an adjusatable flow rate so you can raise or lower the amount of water it flows...and there SUPER quiet!

I run an AC Mini on a 5.5 gallon. I can even set it on an approximate medium setting without worries. I noticed noise the first day I had it, but that apparently was just a "breaking in" period. It's silent now.

I don't know about fry, but I would imagine they would be fine. If you are still worried though, you can also look at nano-HOBs. Check out the ultra-cheap Azoo Palm filter:

You may need extra 'netting' or cotton filter floss tied to the intake. It will work - just some fine tuning is all ...

They do seem cheap don't they? But after shipping costs to Canada I might as well just buy the ones on sale at the store. I got some money comming in this week from a job so it looks like I'll be getting the mini's I do like how quiet AC filters have been for me so far and I'll be glad to box up the air pumps.
