Hello All,

I have a small (around 300 gallons ??) pond/ water feature setup in my front yard, and am currently wanting to purchase a new pump/ filter setup. I am unsure on what to buy. Please take a look @ the attached pictures and give any recommendations. It currently has a small pump that has a filter attached, and a seperate UV filter. I am not sure on the size of this pump. I am currently battling algae like crazy. Having to clean the filter about every 2 days. (I am sure this has to do with being in direct sunlight all day). The pond also has about 6 goldfish that have been in for about 1 1/2 years.

I was thining of purchasing this filter/pump combo, but not sure if it will do the trick?

Any comments are appreciated.

thank you

I just bought the FX6 off ebay for $70 from ebay, it has been in almost a week and I love it, my pond is about 400 gallons, I run the waterfall and a fountain off of the single pump. the flow is a little high for a UV so I run my UV off of the waterfall splitter.

Oops, i ment the Tetra FK6. the filter box tried to float a little so I put a small rock on top of it. I had to increase the flow to the waterfall a little because the fountain was splashing out a little too much water.

I just put in the bigger pond last week, I had a small ~80 gallon pond before that wasn't big enough after my friend gave me 3 medium KOI

Are you in IL?

The algae in a natural spring/fall cycle in these parts....
The UV will only work on Green water, not sting or hair algae.

Give it some time to balance out (3-4 weeks+)

No chemicals....

Barley and Natural additives only.

Plants will be your best friend in the fight.

I did have terrible green water last year. That is why I purchased the UV light.

I now live in Alabama. But I am originally from Chicago.

I can walk you through a build of a DIY filter with a rubbermaid container not the best to look at but can be hid with plants and stuff and they will clean you right up. I also am in Alabama and right now I am going through the green pea stage.A great thing to help also is koi clay it will work wonders in a pond and is good for fish to.
