Can a filter be made out of a britta or another water filter? They attach to the faucet so if you have a powerhead and fit it all together, would it work and be good enough?

brita filters work mainly off of activated charcoal, so it would be little more than adding carbon to your normal aquarium filter.

Not a good idea. They are designed with tap water in mind. They would clog almost immediately even if pre-filtered given the nature of tank water.

Even if it could work, it doesn't seem very cost efficient compared to other filtration methods.
