I got a 60g tall tank used, with all the things that went in it.

Cleaned it all up, set it up and started running, and cycling the tank

the heater went out, and I bought a new one,,, noticed the old one was only 150w, and should have been 200 to 300.

Now I look and the filter is a penguin Bio-wheel 200, good for up to 50 gal tank.

.... Do i use this one, or buy a Penguin bio-wheel 350, will that hold the filters from the 200.

I do plan to have the tank lightly planted with no CO2.

So basicly, is this filter enough, or should I buy one rated for 75 gal tank, and I do not plan to have goldfish, more like catfish and ... well haven't quite desided what's going in the middle of this tank.

you could consider getting a canister filter to run in conjuntion with the penguin filter you already have. Rena xp3 are good and reasonable priced.

Or just get a second penquin and run them together. That way you'll have enough filtration, always have a back up, and can use different medium between the two, if you want.

a penguin 350 would work, but my thinking was that you are considering doing a planted tank. With the propensity for us fish folk to upgrade, you might at some point consider using co2 at which point a hob filter is not ideal. Also if you ever decided to get another tank you could take your HOB off and put it onto the new tank in order to reduce a cycle. If you have a petsmart near you, they will price match. I searched around and found a sale price for my fx2 and got it for 29.99. Its all a matter of what you want. If you are happy with another penquin, get one. That being said, ifyou want a HOB filter, I like the aquaclear filters better because of the versatility of their media.

Add a canister.

Thanks everyon...

Appreaceated :)
