Filter Recommendation for new 10g Planted

Okay folks, I just setup a new 10g. It has 2 to 3 inches of gravel and the 10 gallons of water from a WC I just did out of my 29g (don't ask :P).

Currently the goal for this tank will be my attempt at planted, with possible school of Neons, Cardinals or Endlers. I am doing the DIY CPF so it will have 3 to 5 watts per gallon, depending on what CPF bulbs I put in the hood. Probably will have DIY CO2 for a while.

What filter do you recommend? I like the AquaClear line so far, I have the AC 70 on my 29 and it is really quiet and puts out good flow. What is a good GPH to shoot for on a 10g planted?
 
Yeah, I guess I have not considered the no filter option. The tank is bare as can be, but I guess I could plant it to the max and get a school of Zebra Danios to stir up a current. Man those guys can move. I think I saw another post where you recommended to let the plants do the filtration. I am not completely against the idea, but having never delved into a planted tank before, I was assuming you would need some form of mech/bio filtration until the tank is established.

That being said, it sounds like one possibility would be to get a really low flow HOB just to keep things moving. Then let the plants handle the Bio component.
 
I have an AC20 on my 10g, and it works like a charm. :thm:
 
if youre talking really high tech the only way to go for a planted is a canister, but on a ten gal thats kinda over kill
the canister really helps with the co2, you can use it to distribute the co2 and it wont chop up the surface like a hob
zoo med has a little canister thats meant for turtles
ive never heard of anybody using it for fish tho
 
Thanks for the posts all. I like the AC 20/30 idea, heading to get one now. The 50W stealth heater, does PetsCart sell that, or should I net shop it? I guess I'll be ready for a plant package soon, MG. I'll PM when I get my lights/CO2 going.

Also, this Hagen Ladder diffuser thing, where's the best place to pick that up?
