I am sure that there are other users of AC filters out there. What do you use to clean the intake "U" tube? I have tried my own devices and have looked for a brush that would work but haven't found anything yet. :help:

Small bottle brush...

I don't have an AC, but the Penguin filters have a similar tube. I have a long flexible piece of plastic with a hole in one end. I put a wad of filter floss or a piece of cloth in the hole, then pull it through the U tube. A weight on a piece of string would work as well as the flexible plastic- you just need to get something through the tube to hold on to so you can pull the floss through. It scrapes out all the built-up film, lickety split!

(I typically don't do this more than a few times a year, though! The Penguin tubes are opaque, unlike the AC tubes, so they don't grow much algae/gunk.)

:)I have been using a 20" inch brush I bought at LFS it looks like a baby bottle brush but 5x larger. Works for me really well.

If I had a tube starting to clog, the way to go would be to drop a string with a weight on the end through the tube then tie a rag to the string that would be somewhat snug going through it. Pull the rag through the tube and most of the buildup should be gone. If you really want it to shine it could take several passes to get it clean enough. The same basic concept as cleaning a gun barrel.
