Should i get a filter for my ten gallon tank? I do have 14 pounds of live rock buy i don't know if its doing the job. WIll a small filter help or hurt or waht? IF i should get one is there any suggestions?

you should definately get a filter, it will provide essential circulation for a healthy tank, i would reccomend a power filter like an aquaclear, penguin or for the best performance, an emperor, these filters provide mecanical filtration to remove debris, chemical filtration to remove chemicals and keep the water clear and biological filtration to break down harmful ammonia and nitrite, a filter is an absolutely essential piece of equipment for any aquarium, especially a salt water aquarium

good luck

they are 100% nessesay and idk who told you bio-wheels aren't good because they are bar-none the best biological filtration system you money can buy, plus the activated carbon in the filter cartridges will clear up your water

by the way, what are you keeping in this tank besides the live rock?

I have a clown and firefish and i will be getting coral

Filters are "not" 100% neccesary as the live rock and sand provide you with all the filtration you need ( provided you have 1 to 1.5lbs per gallon), by all means have one on the tank, use it for circulation purposes and its there if you need to run carbon in the system to remove meds etc etc..

if i was to run the filter would it take out key elements in the water or what?
And what type do you suggest?

not neccesarily no...It would just provide you with mechanical filtration and chemical filtration if you chose too...

If you are going to use one, you have a good choice available ..cannister, hob etc etc...just make sure you get an external one due to easier maintenance and ensure it is rated to tanks gallons..
