Filtering out Iron ect, from under ground water table

Thanks for all the help everyone, I still don't know what I will do, there are a few things to consider, but with everyones advise it has made it easier.

StacieA - when commercial conditioners say that they "remove" iron or other metal from the water, they are fudging. What they do is chelate them with solible chelating agents to reduce the bioavailabilty, briefly or temporarily at best. Eventually the metals end up in the substrate or return to the solution if the chelator breaks down. Just another conditioner hype on the facts.

how about running a scrubber on the water first?
There is way too much iron in the water for the ATS to handle, if was only a little less that would be the ideal way to go.

yeah, thats what I was thinking, but this water is dark brown with iron. I don't think using the ATS would be impossible ,but I do think it would be impractical. The reason is b/c I was thinking of doing water changes a little more frequently, which would mean that I would have to get the water cleaned pretty quickly and the ATS may take a while to get the levels down significantly.
