Filtration for an 180 Gallon Tank

i will never go back to canisters or only HOB filters since i converted all my tanks over to wet dry set up, i love it now maintance is so easy. i do use 1 HOT mangum 250 with the polishing cart along with the wet dry on each tank and my water stays crystal clear, i am a total crystal clear water freak.

Im now in the process of snatching up dual overflow boxes on ebay to replace my single overflow boxes to increase filter rate turn over the 5 i have already swithed over i really like the difference. if you ever buy a overflow box try and get a dual you can always cap off one of the overflow tubes if you dont need that much flow but when you up grade you wont have to buy another bigger overflow box since you will have it already saves time and money in the end.

Well I just checked the prices and for the fluval305 its a manageable 150. Thanks for the help.:grinyes:
 
It says everythings included but idk if i see a return pump in there. if there isnt, just make sure you get a return pump to match the gph of the overflow. if anything, get one thats a little more because head height will change flow. also use a ball valve on it.

Well just so you know a Fluval 305 or 405 are engineered with allot of bypass channels in both the sponge cartridge and canister housing so that water flows around the baskets as well as through them. You would in that case be far better off with the AC's and much better off with the Sunsun for which you could buy 3 at that price but just 1 will out perform a 305 by about 3 times. IMHO a 305 is better served filtering a 20 gallon, my honest and unbiased opinion .

And im sorry but I literally no pretty much nothing about these filters but would I need to drill or anything for a wet dry system like this one?

excuse my lack of knowledge but what is the Sunsun?

And are you saying a Sunsun will outperform a 305 by 3 times?
