Filtration questions

I'm fairly new to Marine aquaria, but i would say no you can't over skim---if you're getting skimmate, there's somehing to skim, right?

I tried everything I could with my seaclone--i kept it clean, adjusted it, blah blah blah---it just didn't work. The one I have now is light years more efficient

My Seaclone would pull very light colored skimmate out for about a day--then bubbles would start flowing in the tank and nothing wold rise in the tube. I would adjust it, and simply repeat the process. I was adjusting that stupid flow valve everyother day for about 10 minutes to get about 1/8" of skimmate a week.
I bought an in sump skimmer by proclear, turned it on, and I empty a half cup of what looks like 2 month old coffee every 3 days. There's no adjustments to airflow--only water level and I haven't changed that since I set it up.
But l do agree--if you have one and it works for you---stick with it.

I was going to suggest my second skimmer be the one that you bought so I could put the Seaclone side by side with what you have & compare the skimming from each, but I have a hang-on Seacone 150 & I don't have a sump (yet) so I can't test both....My ultimate plan was to get 2 150s but with everyone bad mouthing Seaclones I'm rethinking skimmer number 2.....I DO get more than 1/2 cup of skim in 3 days....(Or maybe my tank is just dirtier than yours!!!!).......Sue

I had a 100 on a 55--you are running a 150 on a 20 if I read it right---that could be why your getting good results. Stick with what works, but i still suggest a different one. i've heard real good things about the coralife super skimmers--they are hang on or sump like the seaclone.
