Yes, I would pick up another filter and run it in conjunction with the one you have. If you are going for HOB filters, I really like the aquaclears. Just make suer you have the intake covered with sponge or media bag. Another option would be a sponge filter and airpump as this is a shrimp only tank. Good luck!

i use bigger than recommended filters on all my tanks with sponge prefilters...and sponge filters in addition!
I also don't use the prefab'd filter cartridges. I replace them with the big round pot scrubbers, and canister filter foam. I fill up all of the cavity with media, so that there's more surface for the bacteria to grow.
It's easy to maintain, once a week pull it out and rinse gently in water taken from the tank. No fuss, no muss.
