The website is yelling at me for not posting in several weeks so I figured I would share my news of seeing my first baby cherry shrimp. I had a couple dropped egg batches in the past so I was very pleased to see an itty bitty shrimp today. I didn't even know I had a berried female beside the one that is currently berried!

I do have a few ember tetras in the tank now though so I will see what happens. I have a nice patch of HM where it scurried off to though.

Side note - If I get some decent pictures I will update my 10g thread soon too!

gratz... i'm still waiting for my females to even berry

Thanks everyone. I do not know how long you have had your shrimp, x916krew, but it took 5 months for my first batch to make it. Good luck!

Congrats! What is sad about mine is I only see the babies. The adults always hide in the back of the tank. I know I must have adults cause I have babies. I have had mine a couple of months and have never seen a berried female.

congrats! i don't know if it's normal for it to take that long, though, could it be your ember tetras dampening the population explosion?

Thanks again everyone!

The embers were not added until 4 months after the shrimp. Because my water is put through a water softener we (me and aquaria central members) decided it may have been my water preventing them from breeding. I also added another batch of 15 shrimp from another source then my original and they seemed to do better over all so it might have just been the 1st batch of shrimp.... Who knows, but they are breeding now! :) Thanks for the second batch of shrimp Msjinkzd!! :)

I saw several minis running around today, got my fingers crossed!

Snoopy, do you have fish in with them? If so they definitely hide more. Although my embers don't bother them (all but the smallest ones) even though they love algae wafers!
