After searching around town for a new pet shop i found a great lil place that only carries Cichlids. Couldnt help but pick up these two beauties. 2 days i had to wait for them to come out when i was near the tank so i thought id share some pics.

Enjoy my new Katabe's

Beautiful shellies! Keep an eye on the tetras, these little Tang cichlids can be fierce when breeding. Just curious, what's the tank's water pH and hardness if you know it?

pH is high 7 from tap if i remember, been awhile since i have done a ph test. The water here in Omaha is pretty hard from the tap, i have to run a lil peat in my 30 for the GBRs. Ive still got some more work to do on the scape, im going to be pulling some of the wood and adding some more rocks.

I still need to pick up a hardness test kit, I keep seeing alot of people around this forum refer to it alot so I had planned on getting one this weekend.

Beautiful tank and shellies! Now I want some...

Looks great, Are those Lamp. Brevis. Really colorful little guys. I don't know what your setup is like with the GBR but most tetra's like softer lower ph water. The tetras might be happier with the ram, this guys will probably love the space and high ph/hard water.

I wish I had room to put a 20 long I want to do a shellie tank.

Yes they were sold to me as Lamp. Brevis Katabe. Fun little fish, and loads of fun to watch rearrange your setup. Takes a couple of days before they are comfortable enough to come out when im near the tank, but they seem to be adjusting well and the past day or so have been hard at work digging up and moving some of the shells.

Nice setup, just keep an eye on that hardness..
