Actually, that's not a too bad a price considering what you'll have when built and operational. I'm subscribed and looking forward to seeing this when complete!
Finally going LED

Here is what I have received so far.. the big part of the order will be here tomorrow.
8.5"x18" heatsink from heatsinkusa with 3x 140mm fans on top. Reef Angel controller and leds from ledsupply, natural whites, cool blues, and cyan colors and a sheet of 100 pre-cut thermal pads from nanotuners.

So here is my first try and making a layout of the LEDs.
White = Cool White
Yellow = Neutral White
Orange = Warm White
Blue = Cool Blue
Purple = Royal Blue
Cyan = Cyan
I decided to go with:
Driver 1 - 12 XP-G Cool whites
Driver 2 - 6 Neutral and 6 Warm whites
Driver 3 - 12 Royal Blue
Driver 4 - 6 Cool Blue, 4 Cyan, 2 Royal Blue
29G will have 8 Cool white, 4 Warm white, 10 Royal Blue, and 2 Cool Blue

Arrangement seems pretty solid. Looks like lots of customizability in terms of dimming and dialing in what you want.
Ace, this build looks fantastic. I’m kicking around the idea of doing this as well. Everything looks great. However, one note concerning the fans; I don’t think you mentioned the specs on them, but sleeved bearing fans were not designed to run in a horizontal position. They will crap out prematurely. You must use ball bearing fans when mounting horizontally. Not sure of the bearings on the ones you used.
Well darn.. good info to know, wish I knew it sooner though.

Been working on the lights all weekend.. making braces for fans, lots of drilling and tapping. Once all that is done it should just take an hour or so to install and wire up the LEDs. They will both be done this week.
