Thanks Mike for hooking me up with the 2x55w ahsupply kit.
Today decided to install it and see what its all about.
My 29g previously had 70w (5x14w screw in bulbs). With the ahsupply kit i didnt want to go overkill so only decided to install one of the reflectors (55w).
Took a few hours to take apart my current canopy, repaint some parts and finally install/wire everything.
The end product is the biggest bang for the buck.

I mounted the ballast on the outside (side) of the tank. Added a 1/4" spacer between it and the canopy. But then came the slight issue. The ballast is now 2 close to the wall.

So later this week when i do a water change i will need to move the tank an inch or 2 away from the wall. Anyone have any suggestions to what level i should drain the tank to slightly "glide" it along the floor?

The 55w kit is as bright if not brighter than the 70w i had on there before. Now will see how the plants respond to it.
Will take some photos of the tank later on.

I 've been using A H for many years, they do have a great diy system and their customer service is excellent.
Nice setup !!!!!!!!!! Lookin good :grinyes:

Thanks everyone for the comments. Well i let the lights stay on for a while now and the bulb was able to warm up and get way brighter. I love it!! lol

Can you not put the ballest underneath?
I couldve placed it inside since theres plenty of room but i wanted to keep it on the outside as to not have any heat issues.

Speaking of heat issues, i think the hole in the back of the hood, which was previously used for the HOB filter is good enough to provide some ventilation for the canopy. But i will have to further see how it goes with the heat level and warming up the tank. If anything can throw on a few pc fans without a problem. But at the moment after having it on for a while the canopy does not get hot at all as it did with the screw in bulbs. the reflector is whats holding in most of the heat.

I think you'll be happy with just the 1 55w over that tank. Putting both over it would have been crazy.

Yee I know 2x55 wouldve been crazy especially with diy co2, i would have to be on top of it all the time. For now im keeping it just the 55w bulb. But if any extra light is needed ill just throw on 2 screw in bulbs in the front.

Lookin super! Those poor boraras are still locked away in their plastic prison?
