Finding a local breeder?

Does anyone have suggestions for finding a local fancy goldfish breeder? I don't need a show quality fish, but I feel like PetSmart is a bit of a gamble for such a notoriously defect-prone fish. I'm only about two hours from DC, and there must be some in the region; I just don't know a good way to go about finding them. I haven't been able to find any sort of Internet registry. Aquabid doesn't seem to have what I'm looking for at the moment, and I don't see any sort of reputation system there. Any suggestions?

There is a seller on Aquabid that goes by the name of Czhang that I and several others can recommend. I have also purchased very nice fish from Goldfish Connection.

Other than that I would join or contact the http://www.goldfishsociety.org and to find members in your area. Within that site is a comprehensive listing of Goldfish email lists which are another great way to network.
