I'm going to be buying a new tank soon and I want to spend about $350 with the tank and stand and everything included (filter, heater). The tank I'm looking for I want it to be 26-30 gallons. The only hard part is I can't find anything around this price range. We're on a low budget and buying an expensive tank more than $400 will put a hole in our wallets for awhile.

I went to Petco and fell in love with a 26 gallon tank with a nice looking stand with a filter/heater included for $329 and then I come to find out that the filter/heater is not included so we don't get it and my hopes are pretty much shot down. I thought buying a new tank wouldn't be this hard. I've been checking craigslist and I havent found a tank that attracts me. Is there a site that sells affordable aquariums with stands?

wall mart has a 29 gallon for $99 and a stand for about $70 tank has every thang but decor

Do you have a Pet Supply Plus in your area? I bought my 37G with heater/hood/lights/stand for under $300. They seem to have the cheapest set ups I could find. Good luck!

I second the walmart 29 gallon for $99. It comes with basic (but functional) heater, filter, hood, lights, etc. It won't grow a lot of plants but it's a great deal for the money. I have the 55G set up for $149 and after a while retrofitted the lights from AHS supply. I also bought a second heater. I went to Petco and got a more expensive stand than the walmart model. Still a relatively cheap set up.

What I would do is buy eveything seperate. You can find great deals on used tanks if that is the route you want to go, otherwise tanks are not that expensive. Around here I can get a 55 gallon for $79 at 2 different places. Petco is high priced when it come to tanks. If you want a new tank go to www.yellowpages.com and type in "aquarium supplies" and the city where you live it will bring up phone numbers of local stores and shops in your area, then call around. You can also save yourself some money by building your own stand, or paying someone you know to build it for you. Here is a link for some Diy stands (if you go this route make sure the person who builds it knows what they are doing). http://www.aquariumlife.net/projects/diy-aquarium-stand/56.asp

All the other stuff you can get at competitive prices (filter, heater, decor, etc)

Thanks for all the help!! I was able to find a great LFS with affordable prices through the yellow pages. I bought a a 20 gallon tank with a stand, filter, heater and gravel for $280. I'm going to cycle this tank without any fish this time. I can't wait to switch my mollies into a bigger tank and add more fish!

Thanks again!
