Is (was) it a Dwarf Flame? I had a few of those, recently. On two occasions, I,ve come homw from work, to find a Gourami lifeless on the tank floor. Totally unexplained. One moment zipping around, harrassining the other fish, the next dead. Unfortunately, I kept making the mistake of buying more...another story... Talking to my mate at the LFS (a very experienced fishkeeper) about them. It's his belief that such varieties of Gourami are dosed with steroids, enhancing their colouring, to encourage sales. As a result, these fish have a high mortality rate, dying seemingly unexplainedly and suddenly.
