Thats funny that your FBN only stays on land mine will only stay in the water even when i pick him up and put him on the land he will be back in the water within mins.

I'm wondering if we have two different kinds of newts....here's a pic of mine, they're only about 3 inches long tip of nose to tip of tail....click on the pic to see a larger view....I belive there is a "chinese" firebellie newt that looks pretty similar, but grows larger and is more aquatic, has bumpy skin too I think, I can see I'm going to have to go googling....:dive: .....lol......

EMG,

My newt looks exactly like yours and is fully aquatic. Most of them are aquatic--for some reason yours are land based. I have a friend whose are land based as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong Emg, but I believe you do have Chinese FBN ('m no expert tho, still very much a newt noob). The bumpier skinned FBN is a Japanese and I think they get slightly larger 3.5-5 inches (compared to CFBN 2-4 inches). I've also read that they can be terrestrial for 1-3 years depending when they reach sexual maturity.

But getting back on topic, Spotnick.. any updates on your Newt?
