Fire belly toads

any suggestions for moss? I can't get any in my lfs, the best I could do would be go for a walk and try to find some growing on a rock or a tree to transplant, but i dont know if that would work.

I ended up getting my toad I just got one instead of 2, i might get another at a later date when funds are a little better. At the chain store in my area they have they have fire belly newts so I may pick up one or two of those too.
 
I work at a chain pet store and they tried to put the newts in with the toads trust me don't do it the toads will try to eat the newts and NO on the moss out side it could be carrying parasites or other crap you don't want and as for moss im just talking grabbing some of Flukers bright green moss stuff not live moss well maybe you could throw Java moss in there and that might work. Bother some one about it if you want it they can get it.
 
Much thanks, my toad seems happy and healthy at the moment, just gobbled down 2 good size crickets. Is 2-3 crickets every other day good or would he need more? I don't have cricket dust yet, but will be getting it soon and likely some meal worms as well for the occasional treat, might even try my hand at culturing earth worms if i can convince my other half that is.
 
I used to have a large vivarium with 10 FBTs... IME, they were good at stopping eating when they were full.. but i tell you what.. they bred like MAD, and they were LOUD about it.. LOL
 
They are loud about it lol I wouldn't feed the meal worms I would try more like a softer bodied worm like wax worms and it should be able to control itself with the food.
 
i was pretty consistent in feeding mine crickets and baby crickets and they did well.
 
Thanks for all of the advice. How often should i do a thorough dismantle & cleaning of the tank. I generally do a WC weekly for all my fish & a rescape every third WC, would that suffice for this guy or should I clean it weekly
 
I would clean it weekly because their toxins can build up fast.
 
No offense gorgeous setup, but you might want more shallow water.
 
I would love it...but my filter wont work with shallower water. I tired even taking out another 1/2 inch & the filter just stopped working. best I could do would be get more substrate or rocks for the bottom to make the illusion of shallower water.
