Fire eel community tank

fair enough mate...but just saying that its irresponsible doesnt help at all...is the irresponsibility the size of the tank or the fact that b4 getting the animal i started looking into it and asking around? i read and heard so much about dos and donts and am confused whats right and whats wrong so am asking. its not like i ve got an eel in an 1l bowl waiting for me to give it a proper home.

As far as how the tank should be set up, the main considerations are:

Most importantly a TIGHT lid and no gaps anywhere that he can get out. Also all intakes should be secured tightly or even glued on. If an intake falls off there's a good chance he will swim into it.

Pvc pipe that he will be able to fit in as he grows. All mine does most of the day is lay in his pvc pipe. He only comes out at night or when he's being fed, or thinks he's going to be fed.

Sand substrate is best. They will sometimes try to burrow.

You probably also want to make sure the lighting is fairly dim, at least until he settles in.
